Fire broke out on Sunday morning in the CC-2 wing of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant due to liquid fuel leakage in Medium Merchant Structural Mill (MMSM) department. Immediately fire machines but no causalities are reported, but 12 million worth machinery is damaged. Anti-Fire personnel are trying to extinguish the fire but they are not under control till now.
Very frequent fire-accidents are not new in the Visakhapatnam Steel plant, and in the year 2010 more than eight times fire accidents took place, it is all mostly ascribed to the negligent behavior of the staff and workers in the units. In spite of several warnings by the Rastriya Ispat Nigam Limited authorities, the workers have not been changing their attitude.
